PerryGolf Expands Golf Cruising Program

Wilmington, NC (PRWEB) April 1, 2008 -- PerryGolf, which was among the travel industry's first tour operators to offer golf cruises, has announced a major expansion of its cruise offerings under the heading "Golf & Cruising by PerryGolf."

Utilizing a private yacht, river barges, expedition- and adventure-style ships, PerryGolf is expanding beyond traditional British Isles destinations to include golf cruises to southern France, the Mediterranean and South Africa. The luxury golf and lifestyle tour operator is also offering golf cruises to the Great Lakes region and Canadian Maritime Provinces of North America, marking the company's first North American tours in its 24-year history.

"The popularity of golf cruising continues to grow," said Gordon Dalgleish, president of PerryGolf. "The opportunity to play a variety of great courses, experience multiple destinations and enjoy a high level of personal service makes golf cruising very attractive to travelers today."

In addition to playing some of the world's most renowned courses, Golf & Cruising by PerryGolf also gives travelers a chance to experience local sights, shopping and dining in an enticing selection of cities and small towns.

Dalgleish said he expects PerryGolf's expanded cruise program to be especially attractive to couples. "It's a great way to combine a golf trip and a sightseeing and cultural experience while enjoying time together."

PerryGolf's 2008-2009 cruise schedule includes tours on two intimate river barges, offering what Dalgleish calls the "quintessential French experience - outstanding food, wine, golf and countryside touring, all at a leisurely pace." The 18-passenger Le Phénicien cruises the Rhône River and the Rhône-Sete canal between Avignon and Aigues-Mortes. The 20-passenger Le Libellule travels the River Saone through the Burgundy wine region between Lyon and Dijon.

Three Mediterranean voyages to Turkey, the Greek Islands, southern Spain and Morocco are scheduled in 2008 on board the luxurious 34-passenger Callisto. The ship's rich furnishings, handsome woodwork, rare antiques and fine works of art give guests the experience of a private yacht.

The elegant Corinthian II, an all-suite yacht accommodating only 114 passengers, will sail South Africa's scenic Indian Ocean on a 13-night, seven-round tour beginning March 19, 2009.

PerryGolf's first tours in North America will be on board the all-suite 100-passenger Clelia II. Seven-night Great Lake voyages will sail each of the five lakes and include five rounds of golf. A 10-night, five-round sail of Canada's Maritime Provinces begins at St. John's and concludes in Rochester, NY.

PerryGolf's British Open by Sea golf cruise returns in 2009 with an 8-night voyage around Scotland. Five rounds of outstanding Scottish links golf at Kingsbarns, Royal Aberdeen, Royal Dornoch, Machrihanish and David McLay Kidd's new design, Machrihanish Dunes, precede the final round of the 138th British Open at Turnberry's Ailsa Course.

PerryGolf's smaller expedition style vessels take travelers places larger ships cannot navigate and encourage new friendships and a sense of camaraderie among passengers. However, one thing travelers will not find on a PerryGolf cruise: onboard computerized golf simulators or synthetic putting surfaces. "Our focus has always been on golf, the kind you play with grass beneath your feet," Dalgleish said.

Established in 1984, Wilmington, N.C.-based PerryGolf offers the industry's most prestigious and diverse selection of luxury golf travel and lifestyle experiences to the British Isles, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and China.
