HEMS Technology Offers a Solution to the Wasteful Energy Hogs in Our Homes

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) April 1, 2008 -- HEMS Technology announced the launch of a low cost energy solution that allows house wives to save money in electricity while helping reduce air pollutants in the environment. The company is slated to release this revolutionary wireless home network in May 2008 within the United States and in Europe during the fall of this year.

"We're excited to provide a long awaited solution to the issue of blackouts and power shortages for residential and business energy users," said Bill Melendez, CEO and Founder of HEMS Technology." Our system is designed to work closely with the electric utility's initiative for Demand Response/Demand Side Management and provide a means for homeowners and utilities to work together in solving electricity shortages with their communities by reducing energy use."

Due to the waste of energy in our homes, a typical home produces twice the amount of air pollution annually as does a single car. The standby power of electronics in appliances, energy hogs, alone each year waste the equivalent output of 18 power plants of electricity. In fact, Americans would shrink the energy bills annually by more than $100 billion and eliminate as much greenhouse gas pollution as is produced by 17 million cars just by turning appliances off when not in use.

HEMS' home energy conservation solution, which is a non-intrusive and convenient way to turn those energy hogs off, allows both electric utility and homeowners control of all the home appliances. The HEMS-DR? home product, which consists of a wireless power monitoring network, measures electricity consumption, controls and schedules appliance use, and determines energy efficiency levels (compared to Energy Star ratings) of each appliance.

The HEMS-DR? home network uses a USB Stick radio for Personal Computer connection along with Windows XP? compliant software. The entire network is easily installed with "plug and forget" ? power monitors that control each appliance. For twenty four hour monitoring, the HEMS 2000? TinyPC? is used as the network controller and data logger and can interface by WiFi or Bluetooth to a home Personal Computer, Bluetooth enabled cellular phone, or integrated into other home networks utilizing the 802.15.4 protocol. It is designed as a web server for intranet (internal home network) and Internet services.

HEMS Technology offers its products through distributor networks and directly to electric utilities and new home builders. The company is considering a home kit for purchasing from retail outlets early next year

HEMS Technology has partnered with OpenRF? to develop the home wireless mesh network. The OpenRF? open design allows for easy integration of products by other manufacturers of home electronics without requiring any exclusivity of intellectual property or extensive R&D of the radio network.

The company has also partnered with Bias Power, LLC., by integrating their single chip AC to DC module. The module is designed for use globally as a power converter making the HEMS product line adaptable to the world's electrical system.
